I primarily use my monitor for high-resolution text clarity and reading, as I spend 8-9 hours reading and typing, rather than gaming. Therefore, I’m considering adding the AMD Radeon RX 6400 Challenger ITX 4GB GDDR6 graphics card. Because the card does not require an additional power supply and supports 4K at 120Hz, which would enhance text clarity for my reading needs. I’m currently using a 4K display at 60Hz. Which brand offers the best version of the AMD Radeon RX 6400 Challenger ITX 4GB GDDR6? Also, is it worth upgrading for my use case?

@U2725QE, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
You're using the HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-5000i (8R3Q6AV) with Windows 11, and your primary focus is on high-resolution text clarity and comfortable long-duration reading and typing, rather than gaming. You're currently using a 4K display at 60Hz, and considering upgrading to the AMD Radeon RX 6400 Challenger ITX 4GB GDDR6 to potentially enable 4K at 120Hz.
Regarding Compatibility and Drivers:
This desktop has been tested and validated with the following NVIDIA GPUs:
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060 (8 GB GDDR6 dedicated)
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 (12 GB GDDR6 dedicated)
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 Ti (8 GB GDDR6 dedicated) with LHR
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 (8 GB GDDR6 dedicated)
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 SUPER™ (6 GB GDDR6 dedicated)
While the AMD Radeon RX 6400 is not on the officially tested list, it is still compatible with your system, provided the following:
You must install the latest AMD Radeon drivers directly from AMD's website, as HP may not offer bundled driver support for AMD GPUs on this unit.
About the RX 6400 for Your Use Case:
Worth It? If your main concern is text clarity, 4K resolution support, and power efficiency, the RX 6400 is a solid budget choice. It’s especially suited for small form factor builds and doesn’t require an additional PCIe power connector, which simplifies installation.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
