I bought a HP Victus 15-fb0000 (598U6AV) new from MicroCenter in 2022, and worked amazingly until last week, when it froze while I was working. I tried to force shut it down and restart it to see if everything was alright, but it has failed to POST since. I checked the SSD, memory, and battery myself for issues and took it back to MicroCenter for a diagnostic inspection, where they told me I had a faulty motherboard.
The repair would have costed $800 if I had done it then, which is crazy, considering I spent $800 on the laptop itself when I bought it. Trying to find a decent replacement board to DIY the repair myself is a nightmare since the part is no longer stocked by manufacturers, and prices can skyrocket quickly on sites like eBay.
This motherboard should not be toast less than 4 years after purchasing a computer, especially when it was bought new, and I find this whole situation infuriating. HP, please respond with any information you have on this matter.
