Looking at this service teardown video, the model series' case is made of plastic.

The xd model series is exactly the same as the xf series, except the xf series has support for two NVMe SSD's and the xd model series only has support for one M.2 SSD.

If you think that it has a metal case, then it has a metal case  

 

I say it has a plastic case according to the video I posted.
