@bobnwosu, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue where your HP All-in-One Desktop PC 24-cb0000i disconnects from the internet when idle. Since this started after a recent repair, it could be related to power management settings or network adapter configurations. Let’s walk through a few steps to resolve this:
Disable Power Saving for Network Adapter
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters.
- Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter (e.g., Realtek, Intel) and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
- Click OK and restart your PC.
Check Power Plan Settings
- Press Windows + R, type powercfg.cpl, and press Enter.
- Click Change plan settings next to your selected plan.
- Click Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Wireless Adapter Settings > Power Saving Mode.
- Set both On battery and Plugged in to Maximum Performance.
- Click Apply and OK.
Run HP Network Check
HP provides a built-in tool to diagnose and fix network issues:
- Open the HP Support Assistant (search for it in the Start menu).
- Go to Troubleshooting and Fixes > Internet and Security > HP Network Check.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Update Network Drivers
- In Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter.
- Select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- Alternatively, visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page and enter your product number.
Reset Network Settings
If the issue persists:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Scroll down and click Network reset.
- Follow the prompts and restart your PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
